A few things landed in Earwig this week. None of them are big on their own. Together, they take a few annoying steps out of your shoot and your edit.
Record through your earbuds or a Bluetooth mic
Earwig can now listen through a Bluetooth mic or a pair of earbuds connected to your phone. Clip a Bluetooth mic on your contributor, press record, and Earwig types out what they say.
The record screen shows the name of the mic it's using, so you know it picked the right one. If you'd rather Earwig always uses the phone's own mic, go to Settings, then General, and switch off Bluetooth mic.
Bluetooth sound is phone-call quality, so the words can come through a touch rougher. Your camera still records the proper sound, and Earwig keeps your markers and timecodes just the same.
Put names to the voices
On any shoot in your account, tap Speaker A and give them a name. The transcript shows their name from then on, and Earwig remembers it for next time.
Every marker gets a number in your PDF
The transcript PDF now numbers your markers, 1, 2, 3, in the order they happen. At the top there's a list of every marker with its number, its time and its name. Tell your editor "go to number 7" and you're both looking at the same moment.
Everything for your edit, in one menu
Tap the three dots on any shoot, private or in your account. Everything is there: share your notes, email them, get your marker files, make the PDF, or send it all to Avid. Avid files now sit inside Marker files, next to the Premiere and Resolve ones.
Settings, tidied up
Settings are now in clear groups: Camera and timecode, Ways to mark, Transcript, Second phone, Earwig Sync and Privacy. Each one says what it does underneath.
